Richard took a chance and hired me for my first job at the PSBGM now known as the EMSB. He was always a very good boss to me and very appreciative. Thirty-one years later …..I am still an employee of the EMSB.
I wish to extend my deepest sympathy to every member of the Jarvis family. May the good memories you all shared with Richard help comfort you during this difficult passage in time.
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
Sincerely,
Shirley Taylor

I am writing this note with such saddness in my heart.
39 years ago, I started to work for the PSBGM;I was a shy, scared 18 year old, who was a bit overwhelmed. Richard was my first boss and he was a gem!
He made my transition from High School to the business world such an easy and laid back process.
He was always there if you needed help and he treated all of his employees with a respect and kindess that one doesn’t see too often.
Beleive me,he set the standard for bosses…I have never forgotten him,nor have I ever had one as kind and understanding as him since.
How we used to laugh! He made work fun.
Unfortunately, the world will never be the same without him in it.
My deepest sympathies.

Our sincerest condolences go all members of the Jarvis family.
We enjoy fond memories of your parents when they were our neighbours in Goderich during our family’s formative years. We were grateful to have had Anne’s influence when she taught French Immersion. Our kids have continued to make use of their skill they gained from her. Richard’s “words of wisdom” were freely given and appreciated. Visiting the Jarvis household was always a pleasure and frequently we would return home chuckling from the good times we had. Richard will be sadly missed.
Although this is a difficult time, take comfort knowing that both your mom and dad can now be eternally together….in the loving hands of our Lord.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Carol Jarvis Stewart
I have wonderful memories of uncle Richard from my early years. And I was so fortunate to see him at auntie Chrissie’s a few summers back–I’m sad he’s gone but so grateful to have seen an uncle I have loved and missed for many years. Running off to do all those adult things in life, you leave behind so much that finally nags you into submission: you miss your roots and your family. And although he was just outside my realm, his character and spirit were strong enough to always have a presence for me. I wish I could have seen him one more time before he passed. I hope it was a comfortable passing with his loved ones by his side. Jarvises are unique, a bit eccentric, and always great to be around, and he was certainly that. Best wishes and condolences to you, Charlotte and family. From your cousin, Carol.

Always our favorite uncle to visit, Uncle Richard was such a fun man with a unique sense of humor. We’ll miss the rounds of golf, cards and cooking Italian food as much as we’ll miss your stories and smile. We were so blessed to have seen you before you left us and will forever remember the good times. We love you so much.
