August 19 1934 – July 26 2019
After a brief illness, Bob passed away peacefully with his family by his side, at Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre, Barrie. Survived by his wife Marjorie and his pride and joy three children Gary (Jill), Sharon, and Julia (Dave). Predeceased by brothers George and Alex, sister Mary, brother-in-law Norm Wright and special mother-in-law Vera Wright. Survived by his sister-in-law Connie Wright. Growing up on a farm in Chinguacousy, Bob married his high school sweetheart and departed 61 years later on their wedding anniversary. In his earlier years he was the final employee of Avro Aircraft. After a 33 year career with the Scarborough Board of Education as Superintendent of Personnel, Bob retired to Horseshoe Highlands and happily assumed the roles of community handyman, golfer, marshal, Rink Rat (of the year), gardener extraordinaire, volunteer and fund raiser, social butterfly, advisor and friend to all. Aside from his family, Bob always felt his friends were his most valued assets.

It is with heavy heart with which we send these condolences to all of the Mitchell’s at this time of such profound loss. Though life’s journey has made us many miles apart we continue to revisit the memories of the good times we all shared from those years when we were next door neighbors. There was a bond so close that we still feel that you all are family. Not haveing Bob’s wisdom, support, generosity, ingenuity, compassion, charity, and love to help guide us all is a void far beyond my ability to adequately explain. Our hope is for Marj, Gary, Sharon, and Julie to enjoy some peace in knowing that Bob is now doing the Lord’s work and all of heaven will rejoice at his arrival. With much love, all of the Pickells.
Valerie Nilsson
I know how much he was loved. It will be hard on the family but memories will live on .

Please accept the sincere condolences of Renee and myself for the passing of Bob. Unfortunately we are unable to attend the service as we are out of town at a family function. His willingness to volunteer for the community is unmatched. He will be missed but never forgotten. Renee and Ron Raphael

We are very sorry to hear of the passing of Bob. Throughout the 14 years of being a neighbour to the Mitchell family on Kenpark, we got to know, appreciate, and enjoy Bob’s contribution to the Kenpark “cul-de-sac” community. He was extremely generous with his time, always shared in fun conversations, always showed interest in what was happening in our lives and the lives of our children, and just brought a sparkle to any gathering. Our respective relocations (us to Gravenhurst and Mitchells to Horseshoe Valley) did not lead to our lives crossing paths again, but we have such fond memories of his “good neighbourliness”, and certainly are aware of how much he will be missed by his family and friends.
Kelly Borne
So sorry to hear of your Dad’s passing Julie. My most sincere condolences to you and your family.
