A great man loved by many, most especially his family. Roger was a proud husband, father, grandfather and brother. Adored by his loving wife Marilyn Girling. A hero to his children Leigh and Corey Soulis, Paul Girling and Mike Bedore and a wonderful granddad to Tyler and Gavin Soulis. Dear brother to Rita Matthews and beloved uncle to Sharon and Gary Matthews.
Roger’s moral compass built the foundation for a strong and loving family, as he provided a rich and wonderful life for them. He always encouraged his children to follow their dreams.
Roger passed peacefully on Wednesday, August 28, 2019, at the age of 74 years, while under the care of the wonderful people at The Campbell House, Georgian Triangle Hospice.
The family wishes, if you should choose, for donations to be made to the Georgian Triangle Hospice on Roger’s behalf.
A celebration of Roger’s life will be held in Christ Church Anglican, 22 Nancy Street, Bolton on Tuesday, September 10th at one o’clock. Interment of cremated remains Laurel Hill Cemetery, Bolton followed by a reception at Caledon Woods Golf Club, 15608 Hwy 50, Bolton.

We are brokenhearted at the loss of Roger and we grieve along with you. Roger always had a kind word for everyone and we appreciated every visit and conversation we shared with him. Our most favourite memory is of watching Roger and Marilyn dancing at events. You were so in sync and the happiness you shared was so evident in every turn. We witnessed him caring and sharing with his family and others always, a true gentleman who we will miss forever. Our hearts are with you.

When I walked into the church on Tuesday, I felt alone and scared and so nervous. When I stood up to the microphone to speak and looked out into the church I was overwhelmed, To see that there were people packed into the church, with so many of you even standing in the back, is something I will never forget. I no longer felt alone or scared. I felt love and support and gratitude. Every person there helped us to get through the day. The love and support was incredible and we are so grateful to each of you. Though my feet are still numb my heart is full. I know my Dad would be so grateful for the beautiful celebration in his honour. We are grateful for the many hugs and kind words and for the love we were shown. Thank you, to everyone who attended the church, the reception, and those who were there in spirit. For the continued support, the meals, the hospice donations, the cards and flowers. We have so much love and our hearts are full. You truly gave us strength to get through this most difficult time. It was messy and painful but also full of laughter and love. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
I love you Dad. You created this wonderful life for us. I miss you with all my heart.
Love,
Leigh

It was sheer coincidence that we came across the message about Roger’s death in August last year.
We met both of you in London back in 1970 as members of the Selo Sub-Aqua Club.
We remember Roger as a trustworthy diver and a sympathetic person.
Dear Marilyn, we wish you and your family all the best.
