David,
Our condolences for the loss of your mom. She was a beautiful lady who made others feel so welcome in her presence. Fern was a cousin to the Earlys and we have fond memories of Christmas getogethers and Euchre games with her and George. She often had a camera in hand to take pictures of memories and readily share them. I enjoyed talking about current events with her on the phone and the way she looked at the brighter side of things. A special lady indeed.

My sister Pat and I spent many a Saturday morning in the kitchen on Fern’s home on the farm learning from Agnes Foster and Fern the 4 H homemakers courses. She was also there with my Mom and others for the Elders Mills Women’s Institute events and school activities.
She was a lovely lady and a big part of our community when I was growing up. I will miss not seeing her on my visits to Woodbridge.

My brother Cameron and I always remembered the farm days with all our Wardlaw cousins. I was always the youngest so Robert, George and Ruth had to look after me.

Our sincere condolences for the loss of your mom.
Your mother was a very caring sole. Her smile brightened the room.
She was my ancestral reference when I needed to connect some long lost relatives on the Shaw family. Your mom would give me the family history and all the details of each person from years ago as if it were just yesterday.
Cherish your memories, our thoughts are with you at this difficult time

My thoughts are with you, David. Your mom was very special to me. She was kind to me when I began school, in 1939, in the little red schoolhouse of SS #1 Albion……..& we have been friends ever since. When I was 9, she let me learn to ride a bike on her brand-new green CCM bicycle, which she had gotten for her birthday! How kind is that?! That kindness continued throughout her life, towards me & my family. My brother drove us to Young Peoples together….& to Jr Farmers together………& later on, she taught my daughters in 4-H. During the past 20 years, we have kept our friendship alive through many letters to each other. I will miss her so much!

It is so sad to hear of Fern’s passing. Condolences from Diane,Terrence and the boys Darien, Brandon and Josh.
It was always a joy to meet her at the services and definitely for our social tea time after church, especially when she baked her favorite snacks. Fern had a gentleness sweet nature and will be dearly missed. We know she loved her Lord and believe she’s in His presence enjoying the bliss she read of in Scripture.
David, God’s comfort and peace to you and your relatives.

Fern was a loyal member of our United Church Women’s executive. Her generous spirit and welcoming smile made annual meetings special. I certainly remember our “paparazzi ” getting us all in frame and displaying photos at the next meeting! What a pleasure to know and work with her.

Fern and our Mum, Agnes Foster, were best friends for many many years..being involved in 4H, Elders Mill Institute and other community activities. My 4 sisters, Marlene, Carol, Lorraine, Shirley and I were often at their place and George always said Dianne got so excited when The Foster Girls came over.
Over the years both Fern , George and David, shared special holidays , joys and losses, with our families . We were blessed to have had all of them in our lives.
We will always remember that special “Fern Smile”
Prayers and Love, Joyce Foster Neary
