March 4th 1952 – April 28th, 2021.
It is with profound sadness that I announce the passing of my beloved mother Susan Finn (nee Golding) at the age of 69 years, in the early morning hours of Wednesday April 28th, 2021, as I held her hand.
Susan was born in England to the late Sydney “Syd” and Evelyn Golding (nee Philips) and was the second oldest of four siblings. The family moved to Windsor, Ontario in 1955 and that remained home until 1973. Susan graduated from St. Clair College (Windsor) in Bio Science Technology and that led to mom’s career-long passion in Microbiology and Technical Specialty until retirement in 2018. During mom’s career, she was known for her incredible work ethic, energetic spirit, honesty, dedication to the sciences and highly regarded by all that knew her.
Susan and the late Denis Finn were married in 1973 for 42 loving years, building their life in Toronto and then moving to Bolton, where they lived for 27 years. They enjoyed golf together, listening to Jimmy Buffett and sharing a lifetime of laughter together.
Susan is survived by her two siblings Jennifer Allard (Tom), Michael “Perky” Golding (Sharpe Family), Jill Golding, the late Mark Golding and only daughter, Shannon (Sean Saliba). Mom and I had a once in a lifetime relationship, we shared everything together and are truly the best of friends. Mom, I am eternally grateful that you chose me and will miss you every day of my life, you have my heart. Mom is loved dearly by her son-in-law Sean and his extended family. Alias & Thunder, mom’s four-legged friends will miss their G-Maw greatly.
Susan is also survived by her loving partner James “Jim” Morgan. Mom met Jim at a special time in her life and they shared an instant connection. Jim and mom enjoyed travelling, boating and socializing with their many friends and family members. Mom was especially proud that she was now an official Floridian Snowbird. Jim, Jim’s family, friends and mom’s best four-legged gal Missi will forever hold mom in their hearts and remember mom for always being happy and light of Jim’s life.
Susan was affectionately known as Sue to many life-long friends and family and her infectious laughter could be heard for miles. Susan will always be remembered for her blonde spikey hair that was perfectly imperfect; her authenticity, tenacity and most importantly, her energetic love for life. Mom simply loved life and leaves behind a lifetime of happy memories with all of us that love her including many nieces, nephews, extended family & friends around the world.
Cremation has taken place. A joyful celebration to honour Susan’s life will be held later when we can all be together again. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a charitable donation in Susan’s name to any animal rescue organization or a charity of your choice. Arrangements by Egan Funeral Home, Bolton (905-857-2213). Thank you, Elaine, for your kindness and support during this difficult time.

I am deeply saddened to hear of Susan’s passing. I knew both Denis and Susan as customers of mine over the years at the Bolton LCBO. When Denis passed, Susan and I always talked of him. She was the sweetest, even coming to let me know that she had sold her house in Bolton and was on to her next journey. When she would come back in to town, she would always pop by and let me know what was going on in her life. Even though I left that store and moved on to another, I often thought of her and her bigger than life personality. She and Denis will forever hold a special place in my heart as a favourite customer. RIP and my sincere condolences to her family

Aunt Susan was the “cool aunt” because I could talk to her about anything but also because she stayed young all her life. Even if she was disapproving of something, she still found a way for the two of us to laugh together at the end of the conversation. I always looked forward to her visits because I knew our home would be filled with laughter as long as she was around. Later in life when I didn’t get to see her as much, Aunt Susan was still sure to keep in touch and give advice over the phone. Uncle Denis and Aunt Susan were so hip together, but most of all – so in love. I saw it even as a little kid. Then they showered more of that love onto Shannon. I wish I had more time with Aunt Susan. The entire Finn family is so aggrieved at losing her. Thanks for all the fun and love, Aunt Susan. X O X O Colleen

Shannon,
There are no words to make the hurt go away. So sorry to hear this about Sue.
There are a handful of “moms” growing up in my life that I held dear in my heart and Sue was and still will always be one of them to this day. She was always fun and bubbly and I loved being around her. She was always smiling which would make me constantly smile through conversation. I always have her voice in my head, especially the way she would look at you and say “SHANNON” weather good or you were in trouble. You guys were so close and I loved seeing that. Cherish all the memories and smile about them.
Love you xx

Dear Shannon, we are so proud of you. We knew that besides being a mother and daughter you were also the best of friends. You’ve been a loving and dutiful daughter always especially during the weeks of her hospitalization. During the last weeks I kept thinking how vivacious and loving she was. I want to remember her always beautifully dressed with spiked hair which suited her so much. We’re going to miss our special celebration s with her and Jim. Your mom is looking down on you and Jim with a big smile on her face thinking how lucky she had both of you in her life. Love you always.

I worked with Susan about 15 years at Starplex. She was a very dear friend to me. We had so many fun chats together, shared so many good and sad moments. She was an example of positivity. I’ve never met such a warm and positive soul in my life. Her laughter could be heard from a distance, and always brighten the room when she entered. I loved her so much. Her passing broke my heart, and I can’t believe to this day that we won’t be able to see her and hear her loud and warm laughter again. My heart goes especially to her beloved daughter, Shannon and her partner, Jim and her other relatives and friends. We lost a great friend. Rest in peace my dearest.

Shannon, I was lucky to get to know your mom during my days as a Co-worker at Starplex Scientific. Her laughter and smile were infectious. I used to love to clear the walk way so she wouldn’t fall in winter, while she was walking with her cane. She will be dearly missed by her friends at Starplex, though her memory will forever be in our hearts.

I stumbled across this while randomly looking at this website and I thought “THIS. THIS is the perfect obituary!” then I connected the dots as to whom this person is.
Shannon,
I am so very sorry to hear of your loss. I remember how close you and your Mom were and how she was such a cool Mom.
May the beautiful memories you’ve shared help you through this sad time.
My thoughts and prayers are with you.

We were so shocked and saddened to hear about Susan. Our thoughts and prayers are with you Shannon at this difficult time.
We all have such fond memories of Susan and the joy she gave us all. She had such a sense of fun and lit up every room she entered. She had a real ability to make everyone she met feel happy.
We have a lifetime of stories to remember her by, from the times visiting us in England and the times we spent staying with you all in Canada. The last time we spoke we were trying to persuade Susan and Jim to come over to see us all again.
When ever we think of Susan we always smile, she had that effect on so many people and was so greatly loved by us all and by her Auntie Joyce.
Our thoughts and love are with you Shannon and your family and Jennifer and Michael and their families and also Jim.
Lots of love Julia, Mark, Alison and Samuel.
Christine Meyer
Shannon and family, Jim and family I am so sorry for your loss of such a beautiful person.
I still have a hard believing she has left us.
I have so many wonderful memories of all the times we spent together when we all lived on La Rose Ave in Weston and then moving into our first homes in Mississauga!
I will certainly miss our phone calls and the wonderful joy you brought to my life these past years! I was so looking forward to you and Jim to visit me in Saba.
Rest in Peace Sue
Love Christine
