Triestina Raso – February 20, 2024
It is with profound sadness, yet immense gratitude for a life beautifully lived, that we announce the passing of our beloved matriarch, Triestina Raso at the age of 101 on February 20, 2024. Predeceased by her husband Domenico Raso (1986) and her beloved mother Rosaria Lombardo (2000). Triestina brought the warmth of her Italian heritage to every aspect of her life, nurturing a family that grew to see her not just as a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, but as a beacon of unwavering love and strength – our hero.
Beloved mother to George (Patsy), Joe (Marisa), Angelo (Helen), Mike (Mary) and Rosa (Pat). Triestina was born in San Giorgio Morgeto, Calabria where she married, started her family and embarked on a journey to Toronto in search of a better life for her children. It was here that her family grew and she welcomed 15 grandchildren: Dominic (Helen), Angelo (Katie), Michael (Connie), Jerry (Lisa), Mathew (Carmela), Domenic (Nicole), Cristina (Daniel), Michael (Lisa), Johnny, Andrew (Tanya), Marc (Cassandra), Adam (Michelle), Domenique (Josh), Triestina (Jordan) and Julia.
And the most loving great-grandmother to 25 great-grandchildren: Olivia, Isabella, Giorgio, Angelo Junior, Arianna, Michela, Giorgio, Joey, Mia, Miko, Alex, Juliana, Camilla, Luca, Adrianna, Daniel, Ryan, Ava, Darius, Alyssia, Marcas, Evan, Abigail, Elena, and Stella.
Triestina’s humble beginnings as a farmer led to her love of gardening. Triestina was a woman of deep faith and incredible resilience. She faced life’s challenges with grace, faith and an unshakable commitment to her family. Her dedication to her family was her greatest legacy. Her kitchen was not just a place for cooking, but a space where lessons were taught, stories were shared, and memories were made. Each of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren carry a piece of her spirit, her generosity and love for life with them in their hearts. She instilled in us the importance of togetherness, tradition, and the unbreakable bonds of family love.
Rest in peace. You have grown the most amazing family and your love will continue to flourish in our hearts forever.
The family will receive their friends to celebrate Triestina’s life at the Egan Funeral Home, 203 Queen Street S. (Hwy. 50), Bolton (905-857-2213) on Friday, February 23 from 2 – 8 o’clock. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday morning, February 24, at St. Patrick’s Church, 11873 Gore Rd. Brampton at 10:30am. Following the mass, her body will be laid to rest at Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery, 7300 Hwy. 27, Woodbridge.
We welcome all those whose lives were touched by her remarkable spirit to join us in honoring her memory.
