To Vit’s Family,
I read Vit’s obituary in the paper this weekend. I am deeply saddened to learn that Vit has passed from this life into eternity. I visited him numerous times, having met him shortly after Biruta’s death. In spite of having a large family whom he was very proud of, he told me on many an occasion that he was lonely. We used to have long talks, about his days in Sudbury, his endeavours to get educated in order to give his family a better life, about his work at Kristus Darzs, about his sons Andrej and Erik and the rest of his family, about his music, and about life and its meaning. He was a good listener too, and I was able to share with him my own story, and that of my parents who also had immigrated from Latvija. I shall miss Vit, and I will treasure my memory of him.
To the family I express my condolences, and offer my heartfelt sympathy for your deep loss.
